On August 21, 2025, Sulaymaniyah hosted an awareness seminar addressing one of today’s most pressing global issues: climate change. The event was held as part of the project Improving the Human Rights Condition and Promoting Democratic Participation, implemented by the Public Aid Organization with support from the Norwegian People’s Aid and in partnership with the Ozone Network for Environmental Preservation.
The seminar, organized by the Green Kurdistan Association– a member of the Ozone Network – brought together 22 participants, including representatives of government departments, the private sector, civil society organizations, academics, and community leaders. Discussions focused on mechanisms for tackling climate change and adapting to its consequences, recognizing it as a challenge that transcends geography and directly impacts the lives of individuals and communities.
This event is part of a series of fifty awareness seminars being organized across Iraq’s provinces, aimed at raising environmental awareness and shedding light on climate change, in line with national and international efforts to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future.
