At Hamdaniya University, the Public Aid Organization continues to shed light on the issue of family violence through methods that pulse with art and creativity. As part of its awareness-raising efforts, the initiative to combat domestic violence culminated in a special art festival held on Sunday, May 11, on the university’s campus in the Nineveh Governorate.
The festival featured the active participation of youth from the Public Aid Organization within the Youth Connect project, alongside a remarkable presence of civil society representatives, advocates for family-related issues, human rights activists, and members of the teaching and administrative staff at Hamdaniya University.

Participants presented powerful artistic performances and awareness-driven interventions that reflected the realities of family violence and its psychological and social impacts, calling for a serious and united community response to confront the issue and foster a culture of awareness and mutual respect within the Iraqi family. The event combined humanitarian and artistic expression, emphasizing the vital role of youth as a true force for change capable of conveying social messages through creative means that resonate with the public, inspire reflection, and encourage dialogue.
This activity is part of a broader series of events under the Initiative to Combat Domestic Violence in Iraqi Society, which aims to create safe spaces for open dialogue and empower young people to express their views and take a stand on critical societal issues using the tools of art, culture, and active civic engagement.
