On September 11, 2025, 38 people from Basra, including activists, academics, and local community representatives, came together in a seminar that posed a pressing question: How can we address climate change and adapt to its challenges?
Organized by the Green Growth Center for Community and Environmental Development, a member of the Ozone Network, the seminar was more than a traditional discussion. It served as a space to exchange ideas and perspectives on the impacts of climate change on daily life, and on the need to adopt strategies for adaptation and risk reduction.
This gathering is part of a larger series of 50 seminars to be held across Iraq’s provinces, aiming to raise environmental awareness and build communities better prepared to confront accelerating climate challenges.
