Through sports, theater, and awareness sessions, the Public Aid Organization implemented a national campaign in nineteen Iraqi provinces to combat drugs, on the occasion of the World Anti-Drug Day, June 26, and subsequently carried out several activities in several Iraqi provinces aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of drugs .
The activities were distributed among a football league in Basra governorate provided by students of Al-Attar school with the lifting of anti-drug regulations, and in Samawa and Dhi Qar, the volunteer team in cooperation with the Directorate of Drug Control carried out an awareness session on the dangers of addiction and what are the means of treatment.
In Salah al-Din and Diyala, comprehensive awareness sessions were held that focused on clarifying the extent of health, psychological, and social risks caused by drug use, and the sessions also dealt with the hypothetical damage caused by the spread of narcotic drugs through a decline in productivity and an increase in crime and unemployment rates, which pushes towards the deterioration of the economic situation of individuals and society. In Najaf and Diwaniya governorates, various awareness sessions were held to discuss their negative effects on individuals and society. and awareness brochures and workshops were distributed to students in Sulaimaniya Governorate by volunteers of the organization
In Erbil, the youth presented a solidarity seminar to discuss the dangers of drugs, and the youth of Baghdad discussed the amendments to the law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances No. 50 of 2024.
