On December 6, 2025, the Water Community Team in Dhi Qar held a press conference to announce the establishment of the Environmental Defenders Network. This event was organized under the Environmental Defenders Protection Initiative and within the framework of Youth Teams Support activities, as part of the Improving Human Rights Conditions and Enhancing Democratic Participation Program, implemented by the Public Aid Organization (PAO) with the support of the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).
The conference brought together a number of officials and environmental researchers, underscoring the importance of protecting environmental defenders and strengthening their role in addressing environmental challenges.
