On October 31, 2025, the Friends of Water Community Team in Basra held their first meeting to discuss the Environmental Defenders Protection Initiative in Dhi Qar , implemented under the patronage of the Public Aid Organization (PAO) and supported by the Norwegian People’s Aid, as part of Promote the Human Rights Conditions and Enhancing Democratic Participation Project.
The meeting focused on assigning roles among participants and strengthening coordination and follow-up mechanisms with executive institutions to ensure the initiative is implemented effectively and sustainably.
