As part of the “Improving Human Rights Condition and Enhancing Democracy Participation EDP” project, and with the support of the Norwegian People’s Aid, and in strategic partnership with the Ozone Network for Environmental Preservation, the city of Erbil hosted a unique awareness seminar on July 30, 2025. The event brought together 15 representatives from political parties and entities in the governorate.
The seminar was organized in cooperation with the Environmental Protection and Improvement Board in Erbil and several member organizations of the Ozone Network.
including: the Public Aid Organization, Khorsak Organization, and the Meteorological Organization for Natural Disasters.
The seminar focused on the growing threat of climate change and its escalating consequences, highlighting the vital role political parties play in raising environmental awareness and the need to integrate climate issues into electoral programs and campaigns as a national priority and shared responsibility.
This seminar is one of fifty planned across various Iraqi provinces, as part of a broad awareness campaign aimed at enhancing public understanding of climate change and activating local and institutional roles in addressing it.
