Public Aid Organization (PAO), in cooperation with the Iraqi Minorities Alliance Network and the Justice for Prisoners Network, contributed to organizing a series of specialized sessions and workshops aimed at reviewing the implementation of the National and Regional Human Rights Action Plans in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region for the period 2021–2025, as well as preparing for the development of the new Human Rights Action Plan for 2026–2030.
The initial sessions and workshops were held in Erbil (Van Royal Hotel) on 23–24 December 2025, with the participation of more than 60 representatives from relevant authorities and official institutions, in addition to over 30 non-governmental organizations from various Iraqi governorates. These activities took place within a comprehensive dialogue framework focused on assessing achievements and challenges, and drawing lessons learned from the previous phase.
An additional specialized workshop was also conducted in Sulaymaniyah (Ramada Hotel) on 25–26 December 2025, dedicated to organizations working on minority rights. The workshop was attended by the Head of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Justice and the accompanying delegation, with discussions centered on integrating minority issues and ensuring the protection of their rights within the upcoming action plan.
These activities were supported by the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) as part of joint efforts to strengthen a participatory approach to the development of national human rights policies and to ensure their alignment with international human rights standards, contributing to the promotion of justice, equality, and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms for all components of Iraqi society.
