Voices for Climate: Building Awareness in Babylon

In the heart of Hillah, at the Federation of Workers’ Unions Hall, an awareness meeting on the environment and climate change was held on September 18, 2025, with the participation of 22 representatives from government institutions, activists, academics, and community leaders.

The seminar was organized as part of the project “Improving Human Rights Conditions and Enhancing Democratic Participation”, implemented by the Public Aid Organization with the support of the Norwegian People’s Aid and in partnership with the Ozone Network for Environmental Preservation. The event was hosted by the Mizan Center for Rule of Law Support, one of the Ozone Network’s members in Babil.

More than just a lecture, the gathering served as a space for open dialogue on climate change, how to confront it, and ways to adapt to its impacts — reaffirming that community awareness is the cornerstone of any transformation. This seminar is one of fifty events planned across Iraq’s provinces to raise awareness and shed light on this global challenge.
