Halabja Hosts Climate Awareness Seminar with Active Local Participation

As part of the project Improving the Human Rights Condition and Enhancing Democratic Participation”, implemented by the Public Aid Organization with support from the Norwegian People’s Aid and in partnership with the Ozone Network for Environmental Preservation, an awareness seminar on climate change was held in Halabja on July 22, 2025, with the participation of 20 local community members.

The event was organized by the Nwe Organization for Environmental Protection and Women’s Rights, a member of the Ozone Network, and focused on shedding light on the issue of climate change, discussing local impacts, adaptation strategies, and effective ways to respond to its challenges. The seminar witnessed active engagement from participants, who presented a set of recommendations and proposals aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting environmental awareness within the community. This seminar is part of a broader national campaign featuring 50 awareness sessions across Iraq’s provinces, designed to foster environmental consciousness and encourage community-driven climate action.
