PAO brings together 30 Religious Leaders in Erbil to discuss Climate Change and raise awareness

As part of the project “Improving the Human Rights Condition and Promoting Democracy Participation,” implemented by the Public Aid Organization with support from the Norwegian People’s Aid and in partnership with the Ozone Network for Environmental Preservation, an awareness seminar was held in Erbil on August 10, 2025, with the participation of 30 religious leaders.

The seminar was organized in cooperation between the Environmental Protection and Improvement Authority and the member organizations of the Ozone Network in Erbil (the People’s Aid Organization, the Khursk Organization, and the Meteorological Organization for Natural Disasters). Participants discussed the phenomenon of climate change, ways to address it, and adaptation mechanisms, in addition to highlighting the pivotal role of religious leaders in raising public awareness about its risks and their responsibilities toward the environment. It is worth noting that this seminar is part of a series of fifty seminars held across various provinces of Iraq to shed light on climate change and promote community awareness about it.
