As part of the project to promote social cohesion and reintegration in the post-conflict phase in the governorates of Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, and Nineveh, and with funding from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the office of People’s Aid Organization in Salah al-Din held a half-day working session on August 21, 2025. The meeting brought together representatives of local Peace Committees along with a number of relevant stakeholders.
The session covered the districts of Tikrit, Dujail, Baiji, and Balad, focusing on discussing the operational mechanisms of the committees and identifying their most pressing needs to ensure greater effectiveness in their activities. Participants also agreed on selecting four community initiatives to be implemented at a later stage, aiming to foster peaceful coexistence and reinforce reconciliation within local communities.
The meeting was distinguished by the presentation of practical proposals and the discussion of concrete priorities that would enable Peace Committees to play their vital role as a bridge for communication and rebuilding trust among the diverse components of Salah al-Din society.
