PAO and Rukn Al-Taameer Forge Strategic Partnership to Empower Youth and Advance Clean Energy in Iraq

In a strategic step to address climate change challenges and promote sustainable development, the Public Aid Organization (PAO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rukn Al-Taameer Solar Energy Company in Nineveh Governorate. The partnership aims to expand the use of solar energy, empower young people, and support environmental initiatives across Iraq, particularly in Nineveh.
The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, 23 July 2026, at the headquarters of Rukn Al-Taameer Solar Energy Company, in the presence of the executive directors of both organisations, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing sustainable solutions, strengthening youth capacities, and contributing to a more sustainable future.
The Memorandum of Understanding focuses on three key areas:

  1. Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building: Delivering training and capacity-building programmes in renewable energy to equip young people with the skills needed for the transition to a green economy.
  2. Strengthening Private Sector Partnerships: Expanding institutional cooperation to support renewable energy projects and promote sustainable energy solutions.
  3. Supporting Environmental Initiatives: Sponsoring and funding community-based environmental activities that encourage sustainability and contribute to reducing carbon emissions.

Both parties emphasized that this partnership represents a strong model of collaboration between civil society and the private sector. It will help address environmental challenges while creating new opportunities for young people to play an active role in leading the transition towards clean energy, supporting sustainable development efforts in Nineveh and across Iraq.
