On Thursday, 20 August 2026, the Provincial Council of Basra hosted a community meeting under the project “Improving Human Rights Conditions and Enhancing Democracy Participation” funded by Norwegian Peoples Aid NPA in cooperation with a council member who chairs the Labor and Social Affairs Committee, dedicated to presenting and discussing the findings of a study on community participation in Iraq.
The meeting brought together representatives of government and local institutions, civil society organizations, and volunteer teams, alongside representatives of persons with disabilities, to discuss the challenges limiting citizens’ effective participation in public affairs and to identify priorities for the coming phase.
