A Conference in Baghdad on the Study of Iraq’s Accession to the Optional Protocol against Torture

In cooperation with the parliamentary Human Rights Committee of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, the Public Aid Organization organized a conference to discuss the study of Iraq’s accession to the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture.
The conference witnessed a wide presence of representatives of civil society organizations, the High Commission for Human Rights, and academics, where the potential benefits of Iraq’s accession to the protocol were reviewed and the goals the protocol seeks to achieve.
This event comes within the framework of the project’s activities (Promotion of the Right to Fair Trials, Improvement of Detention Conditions, Abolishing of Torture), implemented by the PAO in partnership with the NPA and the IOL, and funded by the European Union.
