Awareness Session in Karbala Brings Together Experts and Officials to Tackle Climate Challenges

As part of the project “Improving Human Rights Conditions and Enhancing Democratic Participation” implemented by the Public Aid Organization with support from Norwegian People’s Aid and in partnership with the Ozone Network for Environmental Protection, an awareness session was held in Karbala on June 25, 2025.

The session brought together 29 participants from Karbala’s local community, including government officials, agricultural and environmental specialists, members of the “ISO Energy” team from Karbala Governorate, as well as heads of environmental departments in Karbala Municipality and Municipalities, and a representative from the FAO covering the southern and central provinces.

The session was organized by The Scientific Platform Organization in partnership with Women for Justice Organization, both of which are member organizations of the Ozone Network.

The session focused on climate change, how to confront it, and ways to adapt, as part of an ongoing effort to promote environmental awareness and deepen public understanding of current environmental challenges.

It is worth noting that this session is part of a larger series of fifty awareness sessions that will be held across Iraq’s governorates to highlight the climate change phenomenon and foster public engagement on the issue.
