Within the framework of the project to Promote the Economic Recovery of Micro Business and Agriculture (PERMA 2), the Public Aid Organization held a conference “Strengthening Cooperation between Local and Federal Authorities to Support Farmers’ Unions: Priorities and Paths to Achieve Sustainable Agricultural Development in Baghdad, for the period from 29 to 30 December 2024.
This conference comes as a result of a series of trainings and sessions with the peasant unions and farmers in Nineveh and Salah al-Din governorate and working closely with them to grow the agricultural sector and obtain their entitlements and rights.
The conference touched on several topics, including the emergence of the idea of associations and organizations, mechanisms to defend the demands of the peasants, modern agricultural technologies, financial loans to the peasants, and the role of the private sector.
The conference activities were extended, with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, Environment, and Trade, the National Security Advisor, and specialists from the University’s academic community.
