As part of the project “Improving the Human Rights Conditions and Enhancing Democratic Participation”, implemented by the Public Aid Organization (PAO) with support from the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and in partnership with the Ozone Network for Environmental Preservation, a comprehensive awareness seminar on climate change, adaptation, and mitigation strategies was held in Dhi Qar Governorate on October 23, 2025.
The seminar brought together 25 participants, including religious leaders, academics, representatives of civil society organizations, volunteer teams, and university students. The event was organized by the Saba Center for Studies and Development, a member of the Ozone Network.
The discussions focused on the reality of climate change in Iraq and explored local strategies for addressing it through raising awareness and promoting responsible environmental behavior.
It is worth noting that this seminar is part of a series of 50 awareness sessions being held across various Iraqi provinces, aiming to highlight the impacts of climate change and build widespread community awareness about its risks and the importance of adaptation to protect both people and the environment.
