In an atmosphere carrying a message of convergence and diversity, Umm al-Rabeein (Mosul) hosted a special gathering that brought together the heads of peace committees from the governorates of Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and Kirkuk, within the framework of the project “Strengthening Social Cohesion and Reintegration through Local Peace Committees in the Post-Conflict Phase,” implemented by the Public Aid Organization (PAO).
The meeting, held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in the city of Mosul, focused on finalizing the artistic design of community initiatives to be implemented in the three governorates. These initiatives aim to promote social cohesion through arts, sports, and inclusive community practices, with the participation of all social components, groups, and stakeholders.
The session also included an evaluation of the initiatives by the PAO team, along with an external evaluator from the Peacebuilding Center at the University of Mosul, which added an academic and professional dimension to the discussions.
The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to review the work pathways and practical steps that will be adopted during the stages of implementing the initiatives.
