In a move that reflects growing confidence in the role of civil society in driving development, the Public Aid Organization (PAO) has been selected to represent civil society organizations on the Industrial Advisory Council of Nineveh Province. The council was launched by the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, in collaboration with several governmental departments, and under a direct mandate from the Dean of the College, Dr. Suhaib Ahmed Al-Taie.
This appointment comes as a recognition of PAO’s ongoing efforts in supporting youth and development causes. The organization will hold council membership as the sole representative of civil society organizations in Nineveh—at a time when the province is witnessing rapid developmental changes that require strong partnerships between the academic sector and civil society.
The advisory council is tasked with offering recommendations and proposals to the University of Mosul on how to improve its academic programs and educational outcomes to better match the needs of the labor market. Additionally, it will work on identifying available opportunities and the essential skills needed to support youth in gaining professional qualifications—ultimately contributing to reduced unemployment and strengthened local economic development.
PAO welcomed the appointment as a strategic opportunity to foster greater integration between education and society. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to conveying the voices and needs of young people to decision-makers and to contributing to the formulation of inclusive development policies that respond to current challenges and future aspirations.
