PAO participated in a seminar at Mosul University about the Role of Civil Society in Promoting Peace.

At the University of Mosul, the Public Aid Organization participated in the scientific symposium held by the peace-building and peaceful coexistence at Mosul University, on Tuesday, 4 March 2025 on the scientific forum Hall, entitled “Role of Civil Society in the Consolidation of Peace”, in the presence of a toast from government, security, academics, researchers and representatives of civil society organizations at the international and local level, as well as several activists and interested in community peace issues.
The symposium aimed at highlighting the vital roles played by civil society organizations in promoting a culture of peace and the principles of peaceful coexistence by reviewing their experiences in mediation, reconciliation, and conflict resolution, particularly in conflict-affected communities.
During the symposium, the President of the Public Aid Organization (Mr. Hogr Chato), presented a comprehensive intervention on various roles played by civil society organizations in promoting social peace and the proximity of views between conflict-related parties. Mr. Chato also reviewed conflict-handling mechanisms through two main perspectives: I rely on an “Approach to Minimum”, where government and international organizations take place and manage peace strategies through official institutions, and the second depends on an “Approach to the Top”, which focuses on strengthening the role of communities and leadership in peacebuilding through local initiatives based on dialogue and mutual understanding.
