Youth for Climate: A Training Session to Strengthen Environmental Initiatives Across Iraq

As part of the “Improving Human Rights Conditions and Enhancing Democratic Participation” project, implemented by the Public Aid Organization (PAO) with support from the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), a training session was held in Erbil on Saturday, November 25, 2025, with the participation of leaders of youth volunteer teams who received grants to implement initiatives aimed at increasing community participation in climate action and environmental protection.

During the session, participants discussed strategies for developing and implementing local initiatives, best practices for community engagement, and the importance of sustainable volunteer-driven environmental action.

It is worth noting that four youth volunteer teams from the governorates of Halabja, Nineveh, Dhi Qar, and Najaf have received grants under this program to carry out creative community-based projects that promote environmental awareness and foster a culture of climate responsibility among youth and local communities.
