On the occasion of World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, the Public Aid Organization in collaboration with the National Security Advisory, organized a specialized workshop on desertification in Baghdad, Iraq on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The workshop reviewed specialized research on environmental changes affecting Iraq due to declining green spaces and the role of human factors in impacting water resources. At the conclusion of the session, several recommendations were presented, emphasizing the importance of forming an alliance between civil society organizations and the government to address the crisis of desertification and drought.
This event was executed as part of the Project for Enhancing Economic Revival of Agricultural and Micro Business (PERMA2), and it was attended by representatives from authorities, ministries, civil society organizations, and the Farmer’s Associations Union.
