The Public Aid Organization held an advocacy session from November 15 to 16 2024 to discuss in Sulaymaniyah ” The Farmer’s Dues for 2014 and the Problems of Fish Breeders in Salah al-Din and Nineveh governorates”. This session comes within the activities of the project “Promoting the Economic Recovery of Micro and Agricultural Business PERMA2”. The session witnessed wide participation of representatives of the agricultural parliamentary committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, the National Security Adviser, the ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources, members of the Nineveh and Salah al-Din governorate councils, directors of Agriculture and trade, farmer’s unions, in addition to several farmers from the two governorates. I discussed the problems and solutions related to the issues raised.
The prime minister’s advisor for Human Rights, Dr. Zeidan Khalaf, also met with a group of judges to discuss the issues with stakeholders. On the second day, she focused on the roles of legislative and executive institutions in addressing problems, highlighting The Role of the Agriculture Committee in Parliament and the role of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, in addition to the role of unions of peasant associations.
The session discussed ways to address the farmer’s dues for 2014 and the problems of fish farmers in Nineveh and Salah al-Din, to find sustainable solutions that support the agricultural sector and promote economic development.
