On Thursday, August 15, 2024, the Public Aid Organization, represented by the Head of the Executive Director, Mrs. Hanaa Hammoud, participated in the commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the genocide in Sinjar. This event was organized at the invitation of the representative of the victims’ families and the Yazidi community, Sheikh Naif Jassim Qasim.
This somber anniversary recalls the atrocities committed by ISIS militants in the village of Kojo in Sinjar District. The village was besieged, resulting in the deaths and disappearances of hundreds of individuals. Women were subjected to abduction and sexual slavery, and children were killed in horrific ways. These crimes vividly exemplify the brutality that shocked the global conscience and became a symbol of genocide. This anniversary serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of justice and international solidarity in confronting such crimes and ensuring that they are never repeated.
