The Public Aid Organization in Baghdad governorate implemented a round table about (Prevent Torture and the Right to Fair Trials) as a part of the ( Promoting the Right to Fair Trials and improving Conditions Detention and Abolishing the Torture) on Tuesday 30 April 2024 .
With the participation of representatives from the legislative, executive, and High Commission for Human Rights in Baghdad, as well as the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), the Justice Network for Prisoners, and the presence of representatives from various executive bodies and academics from Iraqi universities, along with human rights activists, the table reviewed the stages of the project’s lifespan, its objectives, and a speech by the Human Rights Committee in the Council of Representatives on the reality of violations in detention centers. The periodic report of the Prisoners Network on the reality of prisons and the suffering of these institutions was also discussed. The session concluded with the participants sharing their recommendations for establishing a clear strategy for the human rights situation, particularly in criminal justice .
