The Public Aid Organization within the Enhancing Democracy program held a dialogue session on the (the Rights_ Based Approach to the Draft National Policy for Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change) in Erbil governorate on Friday, July 12, 2024 .
With the participation of the adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister for Human Rights, representatives of the National Security Council, the State Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Iraq, The Independent Commission for Human Rights in the region, the Environmental Protection Authority in the Kurdistan Region, representatives of the ministries of Agriculture and Environment, representatives of the United Nations Assistance mission for Iraq (UNAMI), academics from universities and experts in the development of strategic plans .
The session focused on the need to make policies respond fairly to the needs of vulnerable groups and to be human rights policies and not just procedural, and the session came up with a set of recommendations and proposals that serve this approach .
