The Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights in Nineveh held a conference in cooperation with the Public Aid Organization to support the needs of people with disabilities.

The Office of the High Commission for Human Rights in Nineveh, in cooperation with the People’s Rescue Organization, held a press conference to announce the results of the campaign (Ma’a to support people with special needs in Nineveh), in the presence of the Director of the Nineveh Office and his assistant, the official in charge of the file of people with disabilities, the official of the file of civil society organizations in our office, and several officials of government institutions and civil society organizations concerned with this segment, foremost of which is Mr. Muhammad Mudar Al-Obaidi, official of the um Al-Rubaiyin Development Foundation for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Mr. Fouad Al-Sabawi, Assistant Director of the Iraqi Parliament Office in Nineveh, Mr. Muthanna Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Special Needs Care Department, Ms. Humam Sate’, Director of the Legal Department in Nineveh Education, Ms. Doaa Khalil, Director of the Women’s Empowerment Department in Nineveh Education, Mr. Ahmed Mustawi, from Al-Amal Institute for the Deaf and Dumb, and several social researchers in institutes for people with disabilities. Mrs. Reem Kashmoula, Director of the Happy Childhood Foundation, and a group of people with disabilities in Nineveh, where this conference highlighted the most critical problems and challenges facing the segment of people with disabilities in Nineveh Governorate, the plans of the High Commission in supporting this segment, and the filing official reviewed part of the success stories achieved in this file in cooperation with the relevant authorities in Nineveh Governorate and in Baghdad. It was pointed out that civil society organizations seek to support this segment of individuals.

In conclusion, several recommendations and proposals were made that will be submitted to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs regarding the needs of this generous segment to empower and integrate them into society.
